The story of Betty's Bubble

I make things that tell stories of love and friendship and memories of happy daysI grew up in Wiltshire and remember making up stories and being outside, imagining.

The house was often filled with the sound of singing, the smell of fleece in a dye bath of elderberries or the hum of a sewing machine.

I 'caught' a love of making and being creative, particularly from my mum, Mollie.

I spent almost a quarter of a century teaching, especially enjoying art, music, design, and sharing stories with children. I continue to do that but am now beginning to spend more time being creative, designing, making and telling stories in other ways.

My bubble is in rural Cornwall, where I make things that tell stories of love and friendship and memories of happy days.

I enjoy designing and creating objects that I haven't seen anywhere else, recycling fabrics and found objects, making items that are personal and have meaning. I love natural things. I use a sewing machine and stitch by hand, creating the unusual and lovely.

I love the idea that others own and enjoy something that I've made and that I'm sharing the creative skills of story-telling, spinning, natural dyeing, stitching and making that were passed on to me by my parents and others.
